If you think your device is infected reinstall macOS, don't risk it. In the event you go get your device infected, wipe the disk and reinstall macOS (same goes for Windows).
DO NOT SAVE ANYTHING LOCALLY without a backup, iCloud/OneDrive/GoogleDrive work great for this. Do not approve anything you do not recognize, especially if you did not initiate the action that caused the notification. If you get a warning, read it and listen to it, GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND. If you override and allow a malicious application to run it does not matter if you have an Anti_Virus or not. Don't tell macOS its safe to run something macOS warns you about unless you are absolutely sure its legit. The biggest and most significant attack vector has been and always will be the user. MacOS has xProtect, gatekeeper, and a heavy leaning on Notorization with backup from PPPC to keep macOS safe.
Windows as Windows Defender and UAC which do a decent enough job at keeping your Windows PC "safe". In this day in age Anti_Viruses are really no longer needed.
